FOUNDER / CEO / PORTFOLIO MANAGER
As the Founder and CEO of Biltmore Wealth Advisors, an independent registered firm held to the Fiduciary standard, James’ primary responsibility is to provide full-service wealth management that puts his client’s interest first.
Using his proprietary ‘Advance & Protect’ investment process, Mr. Miller takes his role as Portfolio Manager of the firm very seriously. “Our first goal is to protect our client’s nest egg and then grow their wealth, in that order” he often says.
James has worked in the financial services industry since 1992. Prior to forming his own company, Biltmore Wealth Advisors, Mr. Miller worked on the buy-side of the market as a Portfolio Manager at Northern Trust Bank and as a Bond Trader at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO) in Newport Beach, California. Mr. Miller has also worked on the sell-side of the industry at Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) managing money for high net-worth clientele in Arizona.
Mr. Miller subscribes to an active investment philosophy and has developed a disciplined investment process through the use of Technical and Fundamental indicators. His proprietary and time-tested investment approach eliminates emotion from the decision-making process and relies primarily on mathematics.
Mr. Miller and his team also believe strongly in including alternative investments to the traditional stock and bond asset allocation within an investment portfolio. This is also known as “The Endowment Model”. By employing high-quality alternative investments, the qualified investor can successfully mitigate volatility and risk without compromising the overall return on investment (ROI).
In addition to his primary investment responsibilities, Jim teaches his investment course “How To Invest In The New Normal” at Stanford University, Arizona State University, and Denver University. Mr. Miller is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at Western International University (WIU) where he taught Finance and Accounting courses to Graduate and Undergraduate students.
Mr. Miller graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with an emphasis in Finance and Business Economics. James also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
